Mundy Quarries - Broadway, VA and Quicksburg, VA

Rockydale Quarries Corporation, an established aggregate producer, is seeking a Quarry Stock Truck Driver for our Mundy Quarries.  Candidate must be able to operate heavy duty off-road earth or rock moving equipment such as, but not limited to, rigid frame or articulated haul units.    May service and make normal operating adjustments to equipment, and will be required to perform other duties relating to quarry production.

Must have at least one (1) year of previous experience with similar or same equipment machinery.  High school diploma or GED required.  Must possess clean driving record.

Rockydale Quarries Corporation, an established aggregate producer in the State of Virginia, is seeking a Quarry Operations Manager for our Mundy Quarries near Harrisonburg Virginia  Headquartered in Roanoke and with seven locations throughout Virginia, Rockydale Quarries Corporation provides a wide variety of aggregates, agricultural products, and bio-mix soils to serve the needs of many industries, including construction, agricultural, and residential. Since 1932, Rockydale Quarries has been serving Virginia and the Carolina’s with quality, excellence, and value.

The Quarry Operations Manager will manage and direct all site operations with a focus on safety, customer service, overall continuous improvement, maintenance, production, quality control, and community relations. This position is responsible for upholding compliance in state and federal regulations. 

Responsibilities:  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Drive a culture of safety, promote a safe work environment, ensuring safety compliance with all local, state, and federal safety & environmental laws.
  • Promote a focus on our customers’ needs and anticipate and respond to changes in their demands.
  • Develop and manage annual budgets, track and analyze KPI’s, and overall P&L activity.
  • Continual evaluation and improvement of operational and cost efficiency with direct production efforts.
  • Ability to understand and work with Quality Control to maximize product specifications and minimize waste by ensuring quality control standards are met and company quality programs are followed.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve operational, manufacturing, & maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
  • Ensure company policies and guidelines are followed to ensure compliance with local, state, & federal regulations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, employees, and managers.
  • Maintain company assets in good operational condition & recommend capital replacement where warranted.
  • Drive and instill a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Background & Experience Requirements: Candidates should have a BS in Mining Engineering or equivalent experience in the mining industry.
  • Candidates must possess at least 5 years of experience in the mining or related industry required.

Other Requirements:

  • A working knowledge of aggregate production and related equipment, as well as an extensive understanding of operations & safety requirements for all applicable machinery and equipment.
  • Must be able to analyze options by possessing strong leadership and decision-making skills, thereby making the best decision for the business.
  • Knowledge of state & federal employment, safety, and environmental laws required.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain Virginia DMME and VDOT certifications.
  • Ability to present facts and recommendations effectively and efficiently in oral and written form.
  • Be proficient in the use of standard MS office programs. Must have experience in creating and maintaining capital and operating budgets.  Must be willing to relocate to Harrisonburg or within close proximity to quarry.

Roanoke Quarry - Roanoke, VA

Rockydale Quarries Corporation, an established aggregate producer in the Roanoke Valley and throughout Virginia, is seeking to hire a Truck Shop Mechanic for their Roanoke truck shop.

This position is responsible for repairing delivery trucks, stock trucks, and service trucks.  Must be experienced in preventive maintenance, equipment diagnostics, tire changes/installations, and component changes.  Must be able to keep shop area neat and organized, create work orders for equipment, and be able to perform light welding tasks.

Proven experience of at least one year in a related field is required.  Previous related vocational training a plus.  Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds and meet all other physical requirements for the job.  High school diploma or GED required.

Second Shift:  M-TH, 3:00 p.m. – 3:00 a.m.

Rockydale Quarries Corporation, an established aggregate producer, is looking for a Maintenance Crew Member at our Roanoke location.  This individual performs various tasks in an aggregate processing facility. Crane experience a plus. Must possess ability to use cutting torch and welder. Must be able to multi-task and be mechanically inclined.

Position is in a quarry environment, and applicant must possess the ability to work in all types of weather conditions as all job tasks are performed outside.  Must be able to work overtime as required by job. Hours will be Monday -- Thursday, 3:00 p.m. – 3:00 a.m.

Rockydale Quarries Corporation, an established aggregate producer, is looking for experienced Haul Truck and Equipment Operators for its Roanoke, VA location. Position is classified as Seasonal and is estimated to last approximately 3 months, but may go beyond as needed to complete the project.  Positions could potentially be extended into full-time at our Glade Hill location (Franklin County) once project is completed.

Ability to operate various pieces of quarry equipment including, but not limited to, excavators, loaders, dozer, and haul trucks, along with being able to perform daily inspection of vehicle, including monitoring gauges for proper operating temperatures, oil, and air pressure, etc., is required.

Must have at least one (1) year of direct experience with similar or same equipment machinery, and have basic knowledge of equipment mechanics. Position requires working in all types of weather conditions. High school diploma or GED required.

Must be able to work 50+ hours per week and weekends as needed.

Rockydale Quarries Corporation, an established aggregate producer, is looking for an Electrician at our Roanoke, VA location.  Primary duties include, but are not limited to, installing and repairing wiring and fixtures, control equipment, planning new or modified installations, ensuring compliance of MSHA, DMME, and National Electric codes, following blueprints, repairing faulty equipment or systems, and other related duties.

Classification as a Journeyman Electrician is required, with certification as a Master Electrician and/or prior working knowledge of automation and PLC’s a plus.  Previous experience working in heavy industrial preferred.  Must be able to work overtime as required by job.

High school diploma or GED, in addition to a clean driving record, is required.

Staunton Quarry - Staunton, VA
